KAYAK TOURS
Let Chesapeake Ecotours help you plan your next water adventure. Most of our guided kayak tours take place on Urbanna Creek, a tributary of the Rappahannock River located about 10 miles from the Chesapeake Bay. The creek is home to diverse wildlife—from marine fish and invertebrates to birds, otters, mink, raccoons, and even dolphins. It's also rich in Native American, colonial, and 19-20th-century history, which can be included upon request.
We offer a variety of tour options around Urbanna and Middlesex County. Standard 2-hour tours are $50 per person; sunset tours are $30. Prices include all gear, and group sizes are limited to 5 for a more personalized experience. Tour lengths can be adjusted to fit your preferences.
No prior paddling experience is required. All trips will begin with a 5-10 minute safety briefing and introduction to paddling.
-
Upper Urbanna Creek ($50)
Launch out of Oakes Landing, once a wharf for exporting Tobacco in colonial times, and enjoy a leisurely paddle to some undeveloped shorelines on the upper end of Urbanna Creek. A variety of bird species are commonly observed in the area, including woodland birds, herons, and kingfishers. Otters and muskrats can also be spotted.
-
Lower Urbanna Creek ($50 for 2 hrs., $30 Sunset TOUR)
There is no need to go far from the launch at Urbanna’s town marina to encounter a diversity of wildlife and history. A few pairs of ospreys nest here, and Bald Eagle sitings are common. You might even encounter one of the thousands of the Bay’s Bottlenose Dolphins. This trip includes an optional stop at a small beach. Sunset tours are also available for $35 at this location.

Miscellaneous Middlesex Paddles (Pricing depends on trip location)
Middlesex county’s location in between the Rappahannock and Piankatank rivers makes it a kayaker’s paradise. Tributaries of these two rivers are endless and we have put in the time finding unique paddles. Two of our favorite nearby paddles are on Whiting Creek and Parrot’s Creek.
